Re: Sounds from Queensryches Operation Mindcrime II
Tue, November 29, 2005 - 10:33 AMWoah. Can't listen from work, unfortunately, but I'm so looking forward to this. I hope they don't screw it up. Rumor is Halford's playing Dr X this time around. -

Re: Sounds from Queensryches Operation Mindcrime II
Tue, November 29, 2005 - 10:40 AMQueensryche has always been a paradox band. That is that the general opinion I’ve heard this that “they are great, but they suck?!” However their history of experimentations is likely to lead to such divergent yet intertwined opinions… -

Re: Sounds from Queensryches Operation Mindcrime II
Tue, November 29, 2005 - 11:15 AMWell, Mindcrime is in my Top 10 ever, but I don't really like anything else they've done. So yeah, paradox sounds about right. -

Re: Sounds from Queensryches Operation Mindcrime II
Tue, November 29, 2005 - 11:27 AMSpeaking of experimentation…
This tune strikes me as more punk based as well:

Re: Sounds from Queensryches Operation Mindcrime II
Tue, November 29, 2005 - 11:30 AMQueensryche (to me) has always been a Singles band then an Album band. However, to their credit, there are a lot of good Singles from them... -

Re: Sounds from Queensryches Operation Mindcrime II
Tue, November 29, 2005 - 11:46 AMI actually thought Mindcrime as a full concept album was beautifully designed but when I saw the Mindcrime II preview last year I did NOT like the new sections added in surrounding Mary's death. It not only took away the whole Mary mystery but also took away from the flow of the music.
It will be interesting to see if they clean up those rough edges enough to keep those who were into the first incarnation of Mindcrime. -

Re: Sounds from Queensryches Operation Mindcrime II
Tue, November 29, 2005 - 11:49 AMI suspect that Queensryche is throwing down a gauntlet of sorts to our current political times with this album?
That and perhaps they are sick of the “who killed Mary” questions?! -
-
Re: Sounds from Queensryches Operation Mindcrime II
Tue, November 29, 2005 - 2:39 PMPerhaps but I didnt actually need to SEE the death of Mary to come to my own conclusion. ;)

Re: Sounds from Queensryches Operation Mindcrime II WOW THIS IS A OLD POST!!!!
Tue, March 25, 2008 - 6:36 AMThat album SUCKED DONKEY BALLS. I waited 18 years for that to come out, and man was I pissed. As far as I am concerned there were only 2 good songs on it. I didn't listen to it first, thinking if it took 18 years to make, it would kick ass, like the first one. I was wrong, it was awful ,just like some of the other shit they've been doing the last 20 years. Quuensryche used to be a favorite band, but they lost their balls. Their music is shit now- it isn't even metal.
The good news is they still kick ass live- as long as they don't play any of that wierd shit they got now.

Re: Sounds from Queensryches Operation Mindcrime II
Tue, November 29, 2005 - 10:37 PMI don't know, I only liked about half of the first mindcrime -- there was very little in musical diversity... -
-
Re: Sounds from Queensryches Operation Mindcrime II
Tue, November 29, 2005 - 11:26 PMI think of mindcrime as almost one long song with a few that didn't seem to fit in as well as the others. (e.g the needle lies)
I dont think diversity is really the key with a story based album as much as flow is. -

Re: Sounds from Queensryches Operation Mindcrime II
Tue, October 3, 2006 - 5:50 PMAnd "reading" of in related news:
Ronnie James Dio will appear on stage with Queensryche, October 5th at the Gibson Amphitheater, one night only to sing his part of Dr. X on Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime II.
Dio stated, "I've been asked to reprise my performance as Dr. X on the Operation Mindcrime II in a live venue. It worked out where I was able to do it for this show, and it should be quite a treat."
Dio heads off to Scandinavia next weekend

Thu, February 22, 2007 - 10:21 PMAnd up-front on the bands website seems to be the end product of that live Dio collaboration:
