I'll put in a vote for Kamelot and the Black Halo and another for Octavarium by Dream Theater and how about Ghost Reveries by Opeth. All good stuff.

GR by the Mighty Opeth kicked some serious ass!

Deadwing By Porcupine Tree, while not strictly metal, had some serious metal overtones in a lot of the songs, namely the title track on the album. I guess Steven has been keeping some interesting musical company and expanding his realm of influences.

I thought Deadwing was one of the best prog albums of this year too. I also would like to put in a vote for Frameshift too with their superb Abscence of Empathy especially the I killed you track which has some awesome Yes-type vocals.

Octavarium by DT and Deadwing by PT are a tie for me!!

damn, i really was so unimpressed by that new opeth. i think they should stop, really. the production was flat, many of the riffs were filler and not memorable in the least, the prog elements are done by people normally better. ive never felt that way about them before, but then all of the sudden i heard ghost reveries and figured out that they had become cariacatures. the mighty opeth even!

I just joined the tribe this week. This topic is kind of old, but not much posting has been going on for this Tribe anyways. Anyone still out there?

For me, Opeth was of course one of the best. Akercocke was amazing too.

Any one of you belong to Myspace too? I do also have a Myspace page, but it seems like age range is much younger at Myspace. I like it because I get to sample songs.

        Thanks for the post!

Ever since I joined Tribe, I'm checking out this website more than Myspace now. I don't do much on Myspace either, but it's nice to receive colorful comments and meeting some cool people.

My page on my space is www.myspace.com/femmemetale

Please add me as a friend, if you like my profile:-)

I see... Do you also get Friends reqeusts frombands you've never heard of? I add them anyways, just to show support for hardworking bands. I have 72 friends on Myspace, but about 60 are bands. Did you receive a message from Debbie Harry too? I wonder if it was really her who sent the message. Looked pretty legit...

I do, and I always add them even if I never get around to listening to them. And there are a couple of local artists I know who I've also added

            nothing from Debbie yet :(

              You didn't miss much not hearing from Debbie... here's what she wrote;

              "Hi,

I think you will be interested in my page. Check out my MySpace page, listen to some of my songs and let me know what you think! I'd love to be friends.

While you're at it, check out this teaser from my friends, the Cars: Click here to watch the teaser!

              Debbie Harry"

I didn't add her as "Friend" ... looked like there were enough people as her friends already. I like supporting bands/artists just starting out or still unsigned.
